A 72 and 76 year old couple in Nauheim received a call from an alleged police officer on Tuesday afternoon (12th) who fooled the elderly into believing that their daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident and that 80,000 euros would now be due to prevent imprisonment.
Particularly perfidious: the alleged daughter is then brought to the phone by the fraudster, crying and the shock effect is then intensified by a simultaneous conversation on a cell phone with a fictional prosecutor from the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office.
Because the called first state that they cannot raise the amount, the fraudsters go down to 40,000 euros and also ask about possible gold jewelry. The couple then becomes suspicious and does the only right thing: The seniors contact their daughter and the dizziness is immediately exposed.
Against this background, and because it cannot be ruled out that further fraudulent calls will be made, the officials never tire of warning you again and again: “Let yourself be drawn to the perfidious stories, the widths of which seem endless, for example that of the grandson who lost their money needed after a tragic accident or family members who are seriously injured in hospital, do not impress! The criminals only have one thing in mind: They want to get the data and the money of the people called. Therefore: stay vigilant and hang up. If in doubt, contact your local police. ”
