After public tender: BC appoints Luis Oscar Herrera as Chile’s representative to the IMF | Economy

The Central Bank of Chile (BC) appointed the economist Luis Oscar Herrera to represent Chile as Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Its designation was defined through a public tender developed between May and June of this year,” detailed the issuing institute.

The professional will occupy the Chair of the Southern Cone, made up of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, a representative position that will be held between November 1, 2020 and October 31, 2022 in the city of Washington DC, United States United.

The IMF’s executive board is made up of 24 members and is responsible for conducting the Fund’s work, addressing matters relevant to the institution’s management.

Among them the bilateral consultations with member countries and various issues related to the global economic situation.

Luis Oscar Herrera is an economist from the Catholic University and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He is currently the macroeconomic coordinator of the Ministry of Finance and has held various positions in the private sector, the Central Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.
