It was the only festival in Flanders for months that had the prospect of an edition in 2020. But now Crammerock also throws in the towel. There are “too many uncertainties” for the two day to continue safely on September 4 and 5. The organization immediately sets a new date: September 3 and 4, 2021.

Hope makes life. That was the credo at the organization of Crammerock in recent months. Because the National Security Council enforced the ban on mass events in our country until (at least) August 31, the festival seemed to remain out of reach. Crammerock traditionally takes place on the first weekend of September. Due to the positive evolution in the corona figures, the chance that the two-day event could actually continue as planned increased on 4 and 5 September. But now the organizers are pulling the plug.

“We have been increasingly asked in recent weeks whether Crammerock would continue this year,” said spokesman Ruben Van der Linden. “Today we have to disappoint festival-loving Flanders: Crammerock is also canceled this year. There are too many uncertainties to organize an event with 35,000 visitors in a qualitative and safe way. It is not possible to wait any longer, so we think this is the best decision. ” Extra sour: this year the festival would celebrate its thirtieth edition.
Water opportunity
The organization knew that there was no more than a chance of water for a good outcome. “We were always aware that organizing a festival would become almost impossible in the current circumstances. But as long as there was hope, we took the time to make a good, informed decision. “
Artists were not yet announced for Crammerock 2020. The acts already booked may be moved to next year’s edition. It will take place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 September 2021. “Then we want to make it an unforgettable birthday edition,” says Van der Linden.
The final neck shot of the music summer is not the cancellation. Rock Werchter and Dranouter, among others, have already announced small-scale alternatives, such as the summer bar in the Werchter festival park.
