As you know, the award in the “Actress of the Year” category was awarded to the actress of the New Riga Theater (JRT) – Russian-born stage artist Chulpana Hamatova. She received the award for her role in the play “Post Scriptum”.

Social network users spoke unflatteringly not only about this fact, but also about Chulpan’s arrival in Riga, calling her a representative of the Kremlin’s “soft power” and a supporter of Putin, who “left the silo” when she understood the future scenario of Russian events since 2014.

Meanwhile, the director of the show “Post Scriptum”, the artistic director of JRT, Alvis Hermanis, condemned this “Twitter” criticism and, in his characteristic sarcastic manner, advised these people to watch the show and delve into its themes before expressing an opinion.

“I believe that we generally have big problems with the evaluations of “Spelmanui nats”, Lūriņa-Egliena states in the interview.

She continues: “There are many aspects, and I don’t have an answer: we have to do it this way and it will be fine. The education we can get in Latvia is not comparable to what you can get in the world.

So, basically, Latvian actors who have studied here are already in a worse position at the start.

Then there is the question: do we make our own pond, admitting that guest artists have more professional weapons in their hands, so they are not included in the overall assessment, – we are happy, we present flowers, but we do not put them in the common pot, because it is simply not fair? The problem is that we try to maintain a delicate balance and walk in all directions.”
