Jakarta

Singapore reports an additional 4,248 new cases COVID-19 on Friday (10/29/2021) with 16 people dying from complications due to the virus.

The victims, aged between 44 and 90, had a variety of underlying medical conditions. The Ministry of Health (MOH) did not specify this condition. The 44-year-old patient who died was not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Among the cases reported on Friday, 4,246 infections were transmitted locally, consisting of 3,710 in the community and 536 in migrant worker dormitories. As of Friday, Singapore has reported a total of 192,099 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

“Elderly 60 years and over, especially those who are not vaccinated, continue to be more negatively affected by COVID-19,” said the Ministry of Health quoted from Channel News Asia.

Over the past seven days, the number of fully vaccinated persons who were critically ill in the ICU per 100,000 population was 0.5, while the number of fully vaccinated cases was 4.4.

As of Thursday, 84 per cent of people in Singapore had received the full regimen or two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 85 per cent had received at least one dose and 14 per cent had received booster shots.

Singapore recently announced the findings of the first imported case of COVID-19, the Delta AY.4.2 subvariant or the Delta Plus variant, although health authorities said that there was no evidence of community spread of the case so far.
