Copa America: Uruguay win; 3rd defeat of Bolivia

Uruguay qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2021 Copa America by beating Bolivia 2-0 on Thursday in Cuiaba (center of Brazil), thanks to a goal from Edinson Cavani.

The opening goal came on a cross from Giorgian De Arrascaeta deflected by Bolivian defender Jairo Quinteros then by his goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, scorer against his side (40th). Cavani then doubled the bet by taking a perfect cross from young Facundo Torres (79th). It was the 52nd goal of the “Matador” in selection.

La Celeste now have four points in Group A, which is dominated by Argentina (seven points), followed by Chile (five points). These three teams have their tickets insured for the quarter-finals.

Paraguay had three points, before facing Chile on Thursday night.

Bolivia, which will close this Group A with a meeting against Argentina on Monday night, still have not scored in the tournament and are on the way to being eliminated.

The top four from each group of five advance to the quarterfinals.
