The Patak Rodster promises fun behind the wheel, can be driven from the age of 16 and wants to succeed in markets such as France or Italy, where cars such as Aixam or Citroën Ami are sold. The Rodster microcar is quite unconventional in everything. Whether it concerns the dimensions, the design and indeed the focus. It can park in motorcycle spots, but it’s not a motorcycle. It has limited performance, a B1 driver’s license is enough for it, so it can be driven from the age of sixteen.
It has either a canvas roof or none at all. Two people sit inside, but they have quite a lot of space for luggage. And it can be powered by both a gasoline single cylinder from a Yamaha quad bike and an electric motor with batteries stored in the floor.
So what exactly is it? The machine, which is mainly suitable for the city, promises affordable fun that does not require extreme performance. Its competitors are other “vehicles” such as Aixam or Citroën Ami. The Czech Republic or Slovakia is not the main market where he wants to score points. He heads further west, mainly to France.
Serial production is to start only at the beginning of next year, when the final homologation will also be ensured. The first 300 machines will receive a serial number and are offered at a discounted price starting at around 400,000 crowns for the petrol version. “And then the price will increase, by about 30 percent,” adds Andrej Hulala, who is behind the idea of creating the Rodster.
