Eelco Schattorie traveled around the world as a trainer, but hopes to be able to work in Europe in the coming years. The Dutchman had brief contact with Roda JC and ADO Den Haag, but that interest came to nothing.
Schattorie already coached in many different countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Ghana and India. It provided him with many different insights. “In a country like India, many facilities are great. The training fields, stadiums. But there is still a lot going wrong within the clubs”, Schattorie talks to Football International. “It’s a different way of thinking, of working. It is often a bit more emotional, more amateurish. The football level is also different.”
“I have developed in those years and would like to share my knowledge in Europe”, Schattorie continues. “Without becoming arrogant, but I really believe in my own ability. I have shown that several times.”
Dutch interest
There was also dormant interest from the Netherlands, but that ended in nothing. “I still have good contact with Remco Boere, who in turn is good with Martin Jol (technical advisor of ADO, ed.). Ultimately that did not work out and they went for the Englishman. A few weeks ago Maurice Graef started Twitter an action to get me to Roda JC. Unfortunately that didn’t work out. Sometimes it should be a bit of a success “, Schattorie concludes.
