Add Multi-Device Support, Zuckerberg Confirms Encrypting WhatsApp Messages

Jakarta: WhatsApp added new support to its communication platform, allowing users to link one account on up to four devices. This information was revealed by WhatsApp boss Wil Cathcart and Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg.

This new feature of WhatsApp will reportedly greet limited users in the first public beta in July 2021. In addition, Cathcart mentions that this new WhatsApp support will be available on the iPad.

Meanwhile, the boss of Facebook, which has overseen WhatsApp since 2014, Zuckerberg emphasized that this communication application still maintains the end-to-end encryption technology that has been implemented since its inception.

Zuckerberg added that the company faces major technical challenges in properly syncing all WhatsApp user messages and content across devices, even when the smartphone is running out of battery power.

However, Zuckerberg claims that his party has successfully faced and resolved these challenges, and hopes that this new WhatsApp feature can soon be distributed to a wider range of users.

WhatsApp is also reportedly preparing another new feature, as Zuckerberg revealed. The co-founder of Facebook also revealed that this instant messaging application will add a View Once option.

This option, Zuckerberg explained, will allow users to set messages to disappear after being seen and read by the recipient of the message. This feature is similar to the mode that WhatsApp introduced earlier, namely Disappearing Mode.

For information, Disappearing Mode allows users to activate the option to delete messages throughout the conversation thread.
