Mack he avoided a longer prison term by cooperating with federal authorities in his case against Raniere, who was ultimately sentenced to 120 years in prison after being convicted on sex trafficking charges.

The actress helped prosecutors gather evidence showing how Raniere created a secret society that included women who were forced to have sex with the cult leader.

In addition to the actress, the members of the group included wealthy figures from the political and business elite in Mexico.

Before her sentencing in federal court in Brooklyn, the actress had disowned Raniere, expressing “remorse and guilt” at being involved in the crime.

“I threw myself into Keith Raniere’s teachings with everything I had. I believed, with all my heart, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself. I dedicated my loyalty, my resources, and ultimately my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and biggest regret of my life,” he said.

Who was the founder of the Nxvim sect?

Raniere was arrested in Mexico in March 2018 after being indicted in a New York court for sex trafficking and conspiring to commit sex trafficking and forced labor.

The story took an even darker turn when in 2015 Raniere formed a secret society within Nxivm called “DOS,” supposedly “to empower women and root out weaknesses in the syllabus.”

These women eventually became their sexual slaves, they were forced to perform domestic chores and branded with the initials of the sect leader in a painful ceremony without anesthesia in which their skin was cauterized in an area near the pubis.

Additionally, victims of Nxivm they were extorted with compromising information about friends and relatives, nude photographs and rights to the belongings that they themselves contributed. For this reason, many were afraid to leave the group or not comply, according to the accusation.
