Sid Griffinone of the greatest exponents of the genre ‘Americana’will come to the Leon hall this Wednesday The Grand Cafe to bring the popular genre closer to the provincial capital. As for his career, in the 80s he led with his group The Long Ryders under the umbrella of the so-called ‘New American Rock’a movement that emerged in California in which several bands claimed roots rock influenced by the folk, country and psychedelic. In the mid 90’s, the artist moved to London where he formed The Coal Portersband of clear influences bluegrass with which he records several albums and tours half the world.
He also has several solo albums with which he has garnered excellent reviews and which have led him to perform intensely solo throughout the USA and all of Europe. His concerts in this format reveal his Folk and Country influences. He is very passionate about Bob Dylan, The Byrds y Gram Parsons, artists of whom he is also a great scholar and on whom he has published several books. In his facet as a journalist, it is worth noting his collaborations with the BBC and the prestigious Mojo.
