Actor and Oath Keepers Member Acquitted of Charges in US Capitol Attack

Actor and Oath Keepers member James Beeks has been acquitted of all federal charges related to the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Beeks, known for his role as Judas in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” was accused of conspiring with other Oath Keepers to disrupt the certification of the Electoral College vote.

The acquittal came after a bench trial before Judge Amit Mehta. According to court documents, Beeks, wearing a Michael Jackson BAD world tour jacket, approached a group of Oath Keepers on their way to the Capitol and identified himself as a member of the organization. He had recently paid for a one-year membership just two weeks prior to the attack.

Once inside the Capitol, Beeks allegedly tried to breach a line of police officers guarding a hallway leading to the Senate chamber, alongside other Oath Keepers. Federal investigators confirmed his identity by observing him at two performances of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and matching photographs of his ear at the Capitol to a singing video he had posted on YouTube.

The January 6 attack on the US Capitol was a dark day in American history, with hundreds of individuals storming the building in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. While Beeks has been acquitted, the investigation into the attack and the prosecution of those involved continues.
