A gunman was shot dead by police and died of his wounds in London, world news agencies reported. The incident took place in the area of Kensington Royal Palace, which is the residence of Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson William, his wife Catherine and their three children.
London police received a report of an armed man breaking into a bank and several bookmakers’ offices in the area. He then drove away, but was stopped shortly afterwards by police. Shots were fired and the man was shot. An ambulance arrived on the scene, but the man died from his wounds. The incident was not considered terrorist. The man’s identity has not yet been established.
