Indeed, according to a study conducted in 2017 by Italian researchers and published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, gamers would be disinterested in sex which would actually a positive impact on their sexual performance.
This is the conclusion of the work of Andrea Sansone, researcher in male sexuality at Sapienza University in Rome.
To do this, the scientist – who himself has long been glued in the past for long hours to his consoles – prepared two questionnaires intended for 396 Italian men aged between 18 and 50; the first to report their ejaculation and the second their erection. In addition to these two questionnaires, these men had to answer several questions about their habits regarding video games.
Geeks less concerned with premature ejaculation than others
Results? 287 of them said they spent several hours each week on their favorite activity. By crossing their answers, the scientists discovered in particular that gamers were generally less affected by premature ejaculation problems! The reason ? Playing video games could indeed change the brain’s reward system, explained the researchers, which improved performance: “We can assume a relationship between less interest in sexual activities among men who mostly use video games and positive psychological effects on ejaculatory control“. To sum up: the tendency to focus less on sex, their ability to concentrate and perform, would make geeks more enduring in bed.
Playing video games as a couple would make the love last
Another good news concerning couples who share the same passion for video games, imagine that continuing to Mario Kart would be the secret to being happy as a couple. This is indeed the conclusion of a study conducted in 2019 by Centurylink (an American internet service provider), which therefore indicates that playing video games as a couple would be beneficial for the relationship. To do this 1000 people were interviewed; result: a third of respondents aged 18-24 said that gaming had improved their married life. The study which also tells us that Mario Kart is, for the people questioned, the video game the quickest to strengthen the bonds of the couple.
