Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) – A semi-trailer truck lost cement sacks from its open loading area on Autobahn 61 near Ludwigshafen on Thursday, triggering a police operation. The bags that fell one after the other burst open, the cement spread over the road, the police said. The right-hand lane had to be closed for around 80 minutes for the motorway maintenance department to clean it. The police appealed to truck drivers to always stow their cargo in such a way that it could not fall on the lane even if the brakes were applied hard or if the vehicle suddenly swerved.
