Accident with ambulance in Famalicão makes one dead and two seriously injured

The dynamization of the Camilo Route, a project to enhance the heritage of Camilo Castelo Branco as a product of tourist-cultural interest, will benefit from an investment of more than 700 thousand, announced today the Chamber of Famalicão.

In a statement, the chamber states that the investment results from two applications to the Norte 2020 operational program, involving a group of institutions in the north of the country.

The community contribution is around 500 thousand euros.

Applications are entitled “Rota Camilo: Valorization of the Casa-Museu and Cemitério da Lapa” and “Rota Camilo: Qualification and Territorial Disclosure”.

In the first case, the application was submitted together with the Venerable Irmandade da Lapa, from Porto, and will allow the modernization and requalification of the Casa-Museu Camilo Castelo Branco, in S. Miguel de Seide, Famalicão, namely the reconstruction of Quinta de São Miguel and Casa dos Caseiros.

The house will gain new spaces suitable for hosting experiences such as staged visits, tastings of Camillian menus, small performances and evening programs.

The application will also qualify the Lapa cemetery, a monument of public interest, where the Camilo Castelo Branco deposit is located.

With regard to the second application, the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão assumes the role of leading beneficiary and the municipality of Ribeira de Pena is co-beneficiary, in consultation with a network of partners distributed throughout the region, namely the Porto City Council , the Portuguese Center of Photography, the Confraria do Bom Jesus, CP – Trains of Portugal and the Venerable Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora da Lapa.

In this context, the Casa Museu de Camilo assumes itself as the host and distribution hub of the Camilo Route, mobilizing audiences from the tourist hub of Porto to the destinations of Minho and Trás-os-Montes.

The interventions are expected to be completed by the second half of 2021, when the Casa-Museu will mark 100 years of opening to the public.

Rota Camilo was launched in March 2017, in Porto, on the day that marked the 192th anniversary of the birth of Camilo Castelo Branco.
