Vaccination in Ukraine made mandatory on September 22

“Now in the world there is a new effective tool for countering COVID – vaccination. Today, the COVID pandemic is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Lyashko said.

He noted that those who were vaccinated in the early stages of the campaign had already achieved more than 80% coverage, namely, doctors, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“In other government bodies, unfortunately, the situation is not so optimistic. Therefore, we propose to start introducing mandatory preventive vaccinations against COVID, in particular for employees of educational institutions, employees of ministries and other central executive bodies and their structural units, local state administrations“, – said Lyashko.

According to him, Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases” stipulates that employees of certain professions, industries and organizations are subject to compulsory vaccinations against infectious diseases.

“The European Court of Human Rights in April this year confirmed the provisions of national legislation that compulsory vaccination is legal and may be necessary in democratic societies and does not contradict the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms,” the minister added.

He noted that the determination of the list of employees who must undergo mandatory vaccination is within the authority of the Ministry of Health.

“I ask you to support the corresponding protocol instruction, which will make it possible to implement this function and take another, effective step in overcoming the coronavirus disease,” Lyashko added.
