Around 7.20 am this Friday, a truck–crane got stuck many hours after having badly cut the edge ofu bridge CFF from avenue des Alpes to La Tour-de-Peilz. Following the accident, access was closed to traffic, which resumed alternately once the vehicle has been evacuated. There were some disruptions on the section from the Nestlé roundabout to the avenue de Bel-Air roundabout. The driver and his passenger were slightly injureds, indicates the press service of the cantonal police.
The crane truck which stamped the structure is a vehicle from the Transvoirie company, which collects the waste. As confirmed by its director Jean-Philippe Beaufrère, the truck is used to passing under this bridge. “These vehicles are equipped with a security system, with sensors that alert the driver if the crane arm is not lowered. At first glance, the driver is not involved. We favor a fault in the security system. The crane was not lowered and the alarm did not work, but further investigations are still underway. ”
The first intervention of the CFF was to install support pillars to secure the construction. “Two beams were torn from the noise barrier,” says Ottavia Masserini, spokesperson for CFF. There was no impact on rail traffic. From this weekend, damage repair work will be undertaken. There will be another three nights of work next week to put everything in order. There too, rail traffic will not be disrupted. ”
