Bayern Munich have signed Alexander Nübel, a goalie who will replace Manuel Neuer. This annoys the world champion goalie, because he is far from thinking about stepping down. And then there are Sven Ulreich and Christian Früchtl, who register claims.
Manuel Neuer has been the undisputed number one in Munich since moving from Schalke to Bavaria in summer 2011. The 34-year-old has since repaid the trust placed in him with world-class performances. In 2017/18, however, he missed almost the entire season due to injury, and he was only four times across the competition between the posts. And then came the World Cup. Neuer fought back in time and was preferred to Marc-André ter Stegen, which made waves. But it was not due to Neuer that Germany failed already in the group phase with a crash.
Whenever Bayern lacked new players – he also missed a few games in 2018/19 – Sven Ulreich stood between the posts. He did his job so well that there could never be a goalie problem. The fact that Ulreich made no claims after the new return and tacitly came back again may have surprised some. The now 31-year-old really never looked up and bravely sat on the bench. You can only dream of such a number two.

But the Nübel transfer shakes Ulreich’s status. And that’s exactly what annoys the born replacement keeper. His agent Jürgen Schwab said in the “Kicker”: “FC Bayern is a performance company in which sporting decisions are made. Let’s see who ends up sitting on the bench behind Manuel Neuer. » Sitting on the bench behind Neuer? The captain has to renew his contract, the negotiations have started to stutter. The captain misses FC Bayern’s appreciation and publicly expresses his displeasure. Neuer was proud to hurt that internals were able to penetrate to the outside.
And as if all that wasn’t enough, someone else is now speaking up, whose name should only be known to football fans: Christian Früchtl. Früchtl’s advisor respects his client’s alleged words. «I don’t care if an Alexander Nübel comes. Or whoever. I want to assert myself at FC Bayern Munich, ”Früchtl is said to have said.
The 20-year-old’s advisor was also unable to resist a swipe at the Noch-Schalke Nübel: «Because of his skills, Christian doesn’t have to flee. But on the contrary. But we are certainly not making the mistake that Nübel or his advisor make when he goes to Munich and sits on the bench there. » The plan was that Früchtl would play on a higher-class loan basis in the coming season, «then go back to Bayern Munich and say: ‘I have the game practice that others do not have.’»
Pretty crazy what a single transfer on the goalie position can trigger. Everyone agrees: Newer is number one!
