AB Texel Group Announces Acquisition of Bagged Goods Transport from Ecotrans Logistics BV

TEXEL/VAASSEN – AB Texel Group and Nijhof-Wassink Group have reached agreement on the purchase of bagged goods transport from Ecotrans Logistics BV. With this acquisition, AB Texel Group strengthens its position in bagged goods distribution for, among other things, packaged animal feed, premixes and fertilizer products. “We certainly did not make the decision overnight,” says Erik Schiphorst, CEO of Nijhof-Wassink Group. “As a family business, we always work on our continuity. Our colleagues are very important in this regard. The core business of the transport companies within the Nijhof-Wassink Group: Nijhof-Wassink and Wemmers is bulk distribution and warehousing for customers in the chemical, food and feed industries. In order to further excel in this with its fleet of more than 750 truck combinations and to give Ecotrans Logistics the space to grow further, we looked for the best option for Ecotrans Logistics and its employees. This was found in the takeover by AB Texel Group.”

“We are pleased to be able to join forces with Ecotrans Logistics. The company and its professionals suit us very well. We warmly welcome our new colleagues,” said Dennis Wetenkamp, CEO of AB Texel Group.

“Through the acquisition, we are strengthening our foundation in bagged goods distribution, a specialty that we have focused on in recent years. We do this to offer customers in the agricultural and food sector a complete solution for their specific logistics needs and to fully support them. With our dense network, data and skilled employees as the keys to success.”

After the takeover, AB Transport Group’s modern fleet consists of more than 1,700 trucks and 2,650 trailers, of which 150 are curtainsider trailers.

Dennis Wetenkamp adds: “A strategic choice and part of the agreement is that Volvo and Renault Truck dealership Nijwa, subsidiary of Nijhof-Wassink Group, will become our delivering dealer for Volvo and Renault trucks and parts. They will work more intensively with our DAF Service Partner TSF.”
