“Five complaints, four for rape out of three victims and one for sexual assault, were filed against a Mainvillois with a clean criminal record,” said Thursday evening, the prosecutor of the Republic of Chartres, Rémi Coutin, confirming our information on this current folder.
A first woman came to the Chartres police station in October 2020 to file a complaint for a rape of which she was allegedly a victim, during the evening of New Year’s Eve 2019-2020.
An identical scenario
She was 17 and a half years old at the time of the alleged incidents. That night, leaving a nightclub in Eure-et-Loir, she allegedly invited a friend to sleep at her place, in Lèves.
The teenager and her friend have known each other since elementary school. For her, their friendship had no ambiguity. In the bedroom, the friend would have become enterprising, the complainant would have indicated. La Lévoise would have claimed to have repulsed him several times before being raped. After her friend left, she allegedly blocked his phone number to no longer be in contact with him.
It took ten months before she walked through the doors of the police station. “The victims are so traumatized, paralyzed, that it sometimes takes time to denounce the facts”, explains the prosecutor.
Relationship consented then not consented
On January 30, 2021, at 7:30 a.m., a young woman, a Chartraine, files a rape complaint at the police station. She tells an identical scenario. During an evening at her home in Chartres, a long-time friend would have stayed at her place to sleep, she would have confided to the police. According to his story, an exchange of kisses and then a consensual sexual relationship would have taken place, reports the prosecutor.
The young woman, aged 20, would then have refused another sexual act. According to our information, the complainant allegedly told the police that the man then forced her to do this, despite his cries, and maintained her during this sexual relationship. She reportedly showed signs of strangulation.
She was allegedly raped twice
The investigators of the juvenile brigade and the protection of families then make the link between the two cases. The suspect is a 19-year-old from Mainville. The hearings, in the entourage of the two complainants, allow the brigade to identify a third alleged victim: a young woman of 20, who filed a complaint on February 3, 2021.
She accuses the same man, would describe him as manipulative, and detail the same violence. The public prosecutor specifies: “The facts would have taken place on November 11 and 21, 2020, in Lèves, in a parking lot, in a car. “
According to him, she considered her alleged attacker to be “a friend”. She would accuse him of having forcibly kissed her and giving her hickeys. She had marks, in the form of bruises, when she arrived at the police station. Photos are included in the procedure. During the hearing, the complainant allegedly stated that she was forced to perform blowjobs and was pulled by the hair.
The investigations led the two policewomen to another alleged victim. She was 14 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. Like the suspect.
Now 19, she reportedly denounced a sexual assault committed under a bus stop in Chartres. According to the alleged victim, the assault ended when friends joined them.
He confesses
On the strength of their file, all of the procedures reporting unwanted sexual intercourse without a condom, the investigators arrested the suspect at his place of work, Tuesday, February 16, in the metropolitan area of Chartres, in order to question him on the accusations of these four adult women.
The prosecutor indicates: “He denied the facts at the first and at the second hearing. He said it was a conspiracy between the girls, that they wanted revenge. But they don’t know each other. He admitted the facts at his third hearing. He claims to be a victim of impulses. An expert psychiatrist met him. “It did not give anything concrete,” said the prosecutor.
After 48 hours in police custody, he was presented to an investigating judge, indicted for rape and sexual assault, then placed in pre-trial detention, in accordance with the prosecution’s requisitions.
A judicial investigation has been opened. “To check if there are other potential victims”, “carry out various expertises” of the suspect and the plaintiffs “and investigate their environment”, specifies the prosecutor.
Police processed 68 rape cases in 2020, 20 more than in 2019.
