A workstation powered by 64 cores but only 1 CPU at Lenovo thanks to AMD.

Lenovo first manufacturer to take advantage of all-new processor Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3995WX launched this week by AMD. This new CPU is a monster of power which embarks in a single chip 64 cores managing 128 simultaneous threads. Clocked at 2.7 GHz by default, it supports a boost mode up to 4.2 GHz. The processor is theoretically capable of handling 128 PCIe Gen4 lanes and 2 TB of RAM, but motherboards fully exploiting this potential are not yet on the market.

In other words, the new station ThinkStation P620 from Lenovo with the Threadripper Pro 3995WX explodes the meters and is up to 27% more efficient than the best workstations, however competing bi-processor!
In addition, the station manages up to 4 high-end Nvidia / AMD graphics cards or 2 ultra-high-end NVIDIA Quadro RTX graphics cards. It can carry up to 512 GB of RAM.

In addition, this ThinkStation provides all the advances in security and administration offered by the “AMD PRO” platform at the heart of Threadripper Pro processors. It includes the support of:

AMD PRO Security and its many built-in security options to help protect sensitive data,

AMD PRO Manageability, a set of features supported by ThinkStation Diagnostics 2.0 that allow for simplified deployment, imaging and management, compatible with the company’s current infrastructure.

AMD Memory Guard for full memory encryption to prevent physical attacks on sensitive data.

The machine will only be available this fall and its price has not been communicated but should nevertheless prove to be lower than most of the dual-processor stations on the market while being more efficient.
