The notes are short messages of up to 60 characters in which only text and emojis are used. To leave a note, go to the top of your inbox, select the followers you’re also following or people on your Best Friends list, and your note will appear at the top of their inbox for 24 hours. . The responses to the notes will arrive as DMs in your inbox.
During initial testing, the Instagram team realized that people liked having a quick and easy way to share what’s on their minds and start conversations. From asking for recommendations to sharing what they’re up to, Notes offer people a casual and spontaneous way to express themselves and connect with others.
