A working group made up of fifteen people, including magistrates, a lawyer or even police and gendarmes, submitted a report to the Chancellery a few days ago in order to improve the judicial treatment of unresolved cases, also called “cold cases” , Franceinfo learned on Saturday March 27, confirming information from Le Parisien newspaper.

This report lists 26 recommendations in about 50 pages. For now, according to information from franceinfo, these are only recommendations and nothing says if they will all be implemented. Among the recommendations are in particular the inventory of old files still under investigation as well as closed unresolved files, and to set up a “cold case criminal investigation office” in each court of appeal.

It also proposes to integrate citizens, by creating a website which will list the cases not clarified to date, while including a section devoted to disappearances of children. Finally, according to information from franceinfo, the working group also proposes to entrust the investigations into these crimes to specialized magistrates.
