A Woman Sentenced to Court for Punching Her Lover’s Condom

BERLIN, KOMPAS.com – Court in German found a woman guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to six months probation for intentionally vandalizing condom partner, German media reported.

What happened in that case?

The verdict was handed down at the regional court in the German city of Bielefeld, the local daily New Westphalian and newspapers Bild reported it on Wednesday (4/5/2022).

The case concerns a 39-year-old woman with a 42-year-old man. The two of them met online in early 2021, then they met face to face and had a sexual relationship without any strings attached.

According to reports, the woman has deeper feelings for her partner but knows that her lover does not want to be in a committed relationship.

The 39-year-old woman then secretly punched holes in a number of condoms her partner kept in a nightstand drawer. She had hoped to become pregnant, but her attempts were reportedly unsuccessful.

Nonetheless, he later wrote the 42-year-old man a message on WhatsApp, saying that he believed she was pregnant. She also told the man that she deliberately broke the condom.

The man then filed criminal charges against him and the woman later admitted to trying to manipulate her partner.

Why is the case historic?

While prosecutors and the court agreed that a crime had been committed in this case, they were initially unsure which specific charges to place against the 39-year-old woman.

“We have written legal history here today,” Judge Astrid Salewski told the court.
