“There was one catch. She had to pay for shipping. After that, she also paid for customs, insurance, license, payment from the army, but also for the payment of his plane ticket to the Czech Republic. And so the imaginary hooks kept increasing. He always assured her that he would return all the money to her,” police spokeswoman Milana Šabatová described.

The woman sent her savings and even borrowed. She waited for a meeting, but in vain. At the urging of relatives, she reported everything to the police. The total bill rose to four million crowns.

The spokeswoman also mentioned another case where another woman ran into an alleged doctor and borrowed 150,000 crowns for him. “That’s why we repeatedly warn both women and men against these scammers’ practices. Do not trust strangers and be more careful! Never send money to someone you only know from the virtual world,” the spokeswoman warned.
