A US Navy destroyer defends itself against a drone in the Red Sea – 2024-04-18 01:36:27

/ world today news/ A US Navy ship has successfully shot down a drone fired at it from Yemen, the US Central Command announced. The incident occurred on Wednesday, while the guided-missile destroyer of the class

The crew of the Thomas Hudner fired on an attack drone that had flown in from Yemen and targeted the ship, US Air Force Central Command said. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or damage to the ship.

The incident comes after the US destroyer Carney shot down three cruise missiles and several drones fired by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group towards Israel last month.

The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has raised tensions in the region, leading to heightened security measures against Iran-backed groups.

Comment: In my opinion, this is a significant event – the hegemon’s ship, which previously ruled the seas around the world, was attacked in the context of the Israeli battle in Palestine (the destroyer ensured the interception of rockets flying towards Israel).

“Our partners” who provided weapons to our “non-brothers” for attacks on our nuclear power plants, refineries, naval bases and other sites were considered very clever and witty. “Now we will quickly take down the Russians with someone else’s hands,” they said… Well… this game can be played “both ways”, but something tells me that the objects that need protection from them, are at least times more. I thank our Persian comrades for their contribution to the common cause of the struggle for a more just world order!

Previously, “irregular formations” made up of local enthusiasts repeatedly attacked US bases (which mainly ensure the theft of oil) in Iraq and Syria with missiles and drones.

I look forward to the benefits of maritime drones against the fleets of our “former partners”.

Let me remind comrades of two points.

1. During the USSR, we had naval bases in South Yemen and Ethiopia (on the territory of today’s Eritrea), which allowed us to block the strategically important exit from the Mediterranean Sea (via the Suez Canal and the Red Sea) to the Indian Ocean. Even in Somalia, the USSR successfully solved its problems for a while.

2. The Houthis are very tough guys, although “on TV” they usually show us not just in slippers, but generally barefoot guys with Kalashnikovs.

By the way, on the evening of October 1 (2016) in the Red Sea, the Yemeni Coastal Defense Army, allied with the Houthis, hit with an anti-ship missile an American hybrid catamaran HSV-2, hired by the government of the United Arab Emirates to participate in the naval blockade of Yemen and transport troops for intervention…

This is far from their only victory “at sea” in the perennial battles with the invaders, who are many times stronger than them in demographic, military and economic terms.
