A Turkish cargo ship with 12 crew on board sank off Turkey’s Black Sea coast during a storm on Sunday and authorities were unable to contact the crew.

This was stated on Monday by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, writes “European Pravda” with reference to the agency Reuters.

The captain of the Turkish-flagged Kafkametler reported Sunday morning that the vessel was drifting toward a breakwater off Eregli in northwestern Turkey’s Zonguldak province, the provincial governor’s office said earlier.

According to Yerlikai, the ship sank after hitting a breakwater.

Severe storms hit the region on Sunday, and the governor’s office said poor weather conditions prevented search efforts by aircraft and ships.

“When adverse weather conditions improve, search and rescue operations will begin immediately,” Yerlikaya told reporters.

mass media reportedthat the ship was transporting a cargo of ferroalloys from the Russian port of Temryuk to the port of Aliaga in Turkey.

Let us remind you that the day before most of Bulgaria was covered by storm winds and heavy rain and snow, as a result of which two people died.

In early November, the cruise ship Spirit of Discovery caught in a storm in the Bay of Biscay off the coast of western France, injuring 100 passengers.
