a trap set on the course and ten kilometers of stolen markers!

It may well be the oldest trail in Meurthe-et-Moselle, he had never known that! The Trail des Lumières, in Villers-lès-Nancy, was the victim this Saturday of a band of ten individuals who came to set traps and tear off the markers that guide runners throughout the 36 km of the longest route of the event, which has three (36 km, 21 km, 13 km).

The threatened opener

The opener, who half an hour before each race makes the journey in a quad to check that the route is fully marked and that the way is free everywhere, surprised them stretching a cable across a path, about six kilometers from the start. “There were about ten of them, maybe twelve, on foot, by bike and by motorbike,” says organizer Bertrand Harter. “They threatened our opener. Which put them to flight by brandishing the machete which he uses to cut branches likely to obstruct the course.

Call for caution

Rubalise, signs… In total, the signage had disappeared on nearly 10 km of trail, forcing the organization to re-mark the route as a matter of urgency.

Before the start, delayed by a good ten minutes, Bertrand Harter took the microphone to inform the riders of the situation and ask them to “pay close attention to the markings” and other possible pitfalls. A complaint should be lodged with the gendarmerie.
