Pūce continues to lead “Latvia’s Development”; party priority – local elections / Article / LSM.lv

The members of the party “For the Development of Latvia” gathered in Congress on Saturday. The party’s leadership was re-elected, retaining it for Juris Pūce, as well as the main goal was set – the next municipal elections.

The party “For the Development of Latvia” belongs to the association “For Development / For!” (AP / P). The association won the Riga City Council elections a month and a half ago. It is represented in the Saeima, but the government is governed by three defense sectors – the state, the environment and health. The party is not ashamed to praise itself for the adopted administrative-territorial reform, the dismissal of the Riga City Council.

The main goal of the party is a successful start in next year’s local elections. For the development of “Latvia”, it has supplemented its ranks with two existing measures – the chairman of Stopiņi district council Vita Paulāne, who until now represented the Association of Latvian Regions, and the chairman of Priekuļi district council Elīna Stapuloni, who previously represented “green people”.

“Our representation in the regions of Latvia is growing. We are ready for a good start, but we know that a good start is not enough for us, we are going for an excellent start,” said Pūce.

“We have been able to stay in the Riga and Pieriga voter system, where we feel good. Now we are looking for ways to address voters outside Riga,” commented “For Development / About!” co-chair Daniels Pavļuts.

In addition to the joy of success in the extraordinary elections of the Riga City Council, the congress also called for awareness of the great responsibility in leading Riga.

“I would very much like us not to be too happy,” stressed Riga City Council deputy Iveta Ratinīka (AP / P).

At the congress, the party leadership was again entrusted to Juris Pūcs, and a new party board was elected.

Three deputies of the 13th Saeima have been elected to the Board – Artūrs Toms Plešs, Mārtiņš Bondars and Dace Rukšāne-Ščipčinska, Viesturs Zeps, Member of the Riga City Council, Ivars Ijabs, Member of the European Parliament, Artis Pabriks, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Latvia, , Dace Bargā, Edgars Jaunups, Sergejs Akuličs, Gatis Zamurs, Artūrs Ancāns, Normunds Mazurs.
