Khangoshvili participated in the hostilities on the side of the Chechen separatists in 2000-2004. After moving to Europe, he took the pseudonym Tornike Kavtarashvili. He was shot dead in Berlin on August 23. The criminal rode on a bicycle and fired a Glock pistol. He was detained.

According to investigators, on August 17 he flew from Moscow to Paris, from there on August 20 to Poland. On the morning of the 22nd he set off for Berlin by land transport, possibly by car.
