Expected for March 5, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, “A Prince in New York 2” is revealed through a first trailer, nearly thirty-three years after the release of the cult film.
Thirty-three years later, Prince Akeem of Zamunda returns. Initially scheduled for a theatrical release, the sequel to John Landis’ cult film, A Prince in New York, will land on the Amazon platform on March 5, 2021. The first trailer is enough to reassure fans of the original: the famous duo, consisting of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, will continue to give life to several characters, as was the case in the first installment.
Directed by Craig Brewer, the director of Dolemite Is My Name, A Prince in New York 2 will mark the return of Akeem and his faithful friend Semmi to the Big Apple, “where it all began”. Alongside Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, spectators will reunite with Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones, Jermaine Fowler and James Earl Jones, also returning as King Jaffe Joffer. As a reminder, the first part had gathered nearly two million admissions when it was released in France.
