He’s a cop killed during a shooting in the Elhovo area, the Interior Ministry announced.
It happened yesterday around 20:35, when an unidentified person shot a joint border police unit and a military officer who was carrying out his border guard duties in the Golyam Dervent village area.
As a result of the gunshots, the border police officer died instantly and the defense ministry officer was able to withdraw from the scene without suffering any injuries. The closest border police units were immediately sent to the scene of the incident.
The shooting came from the Turkish side.
The Turkish border authorities were informed of the incident via the Kapitan Andreevo SCC and a meeting was held at the state border, with the aim of identifying and detaining the perpetrator.
It is assumed that the author is in Turkish territory. The orders sent did not find illegal migrants in the area.
The police officer on duty, the expert on duty, the operative worker, the investigator on duty and the prosecutor on duty were informed of the case.
Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev leaves for the post.
The official celebration of the National Police Day – November 8 – is canceled.
