When Viggo Kristiansen was arrested for the Baneheia murders, he is said to have asked if Jan Helge Andersen had also been arrested. It could be due to a police mistake.

TV 2 writes that police reports showed that Kristiansen was informed of the arrest decision before he asked if Andersen had also been taken. According to TV 2, the following was stated in the document that was read out to Kristiansen:
“On Friday 19 May 2000 in the evening in Baneheia in Kristiansand, he killed together with Jan Helge Andersen using a knife Lena Sløgedal Paulsen b. 14.05.90 and Stine Sofie Sørstrønen b. 10.05.92, and participated in the rapes.”
Kristiansen’s question whether Andersen had also been arrested has been used against Kristiansen most recently in a statement from the public prosecutor in Agder in 2019.
It is pointed out that Kristiansen reacted coldly to the arrest and that he asked if Andersen had also been taken, without having received information about it.
The police and public prosecutor did not want to comment on the new information to TV 2.
– Someone in the police has all these years known that Viggo Kristiansen was shown Jan Helge’s name when he was arrested. They have known that his question was completely natural. Nevertheless, they have used it against him and kept it hidden, says Kristiansen’s defender Arvid Sjødin.
Kristiansen was released after his case was resumed. The Oslo Police District is now investigating the Baneheia case, and it is expected that the investigation will be completed during the spring.
