Disinfectant campaign in Corona times: Aldi was not prepared for a rush

As in the other Aldi branches throughout Germany, the promotional products were sold directly at the checkout. “We had eight boxes full, a lot,” emphasizes Pehlic. To cope with the rush, Aldi introduced the rule that each customer can only buy three products. The discounter was not prepared for such high demand. The disinfectant had Aldi Bought many months in advance. “In general, we have always been offering disinfectants as promotional items in March at the beginning of the travel season,” explains Aldi spokeswoman Annika Büschken. The campaign did not have a direct connection with the current spread of Covid-19, but the fear of infection * has led to numerous customers buying hamsters for weeks.

Some pupils in Bavaria have already been infected. Many schools are closed *.

Meanwhile, a pediatrician from Munich raises the alarm – the corona virus could lead to the practice soon having to close. However, a large number of infections are not to blame.
