Following the death of little Hugo, 9, the association Les Bouchons d’Hugo was created to collect corks that will be recycled, which will help the pediatric department of the CHU de Dijon. Touched by this fight, Sébastien Courtejoie decided to participate.

Recycled plastic caps for several good causes. It could be a title, but it is first and foremost a story. Sébastien Courtejoie is one of the main character’s many relays. The hero is Hugo: a 9-year-old boy with a brain tumor who died a little over a year ago. It was at the Nancy University Hospital that Hugo discovered the power of collaboration to help the most vulnerable. Thanks to the harvest of caps, the lives of hospitalized children are improved and more comfortable. He then decided to embark on the solidarity adventure of collecting corks, in his village. When Hugo joined the stars, he made it clear to his mother, Stéphanie Chenevière, that she had to continue her action in order to continue to bring comfort to the pediatric department of the Dijon University Hospital where he passed away. The association Les Bouchons d’Hugo was created on August 1, 2020, a partnership with the company Sulo (manufacturer of waste containers) from Langres was concluded. Stéphanie collects, Sulo recycles, the pediatric service of Dijon benefits. Hugo is indeed the author of several solidarity actions. The first, that of helping sick children. The second is to make an eco-citizen gesture by recycling. The third is to create a link between the protagonists. And finally, the fourth, not the least, supporting Stéphanie in her act of resilience. Or how to transform the pain and grief of a mom by making her son’s wish come true.

Sébastien Courtejoie, for all these reasons, joined his work colleague by placing a container at 6, rue de l’Eglise for the collection of corks. Everyone can come and place soft type caps: drink, syrup, detergent caps, spreadable lids, ice cream tub, cream jar lids. The collection, sorting and delivery of the corks to the company which recycles them is carried out thanks to a significant mobilization of volunteers who have joined the association Les Bouchons d’Hugo.

More than 300 collection points are already installed in Haute-Marne, Haute-Saône and Côte-d’Or and elsewhere in France. The Facebook page of the same name answers everyone’s questions.
