From December 16 to 22, 2019, 7 cases of dengue fever were confirmed in La Réunion. “Although the number of cases identified has stabilized for several weeks, the circulation of dengue fever continues on the island, and a new epidemic wave is to be feared in the coming months”, alert health authorities.

The prefecture of La Réunion and the ARS Indian Ocean remind the population “the importance of protecting yourself from mosquito bites and continuing to protect yourself, even if you are sick.”

Since the start of the epidemic, more than 2,400 emergency visits have been recorded. 20 deaths have been reported, including 12 directly related to dengue.

733 hospitalizations (including 619 hospitalizations since 01/01/2019)

· More than 2,400 emergency visits (including 1,941 emergency visits since 01/01/2019)

· 20 deaths, including 12 directly related to dengue. (since 01/01/2019: 14 deaths, including 9 directly related to dengue)
