A man pulls in front of a church in New York on crowds who come to listen to Christmas carols

An armed man opened fire on Sunday, December 13 around 3:45 p.m. in front of a Manhattan cathedral. He was shot dead by the police.

A shooting took place this Sunday, December 13 at around 3:45 p.m. during a concert of Christmas carols on the steps of St. John the Divine Cathedral, on the Upper West Side of New York which brought together hundreds of spectators.

He was pulling from a scaffolding

The gunman, a man, was targeting police officers from a scaffolding, but did not hit any of them, a spokesperson said. No injuries are to be deplored, as stated abc7NewYork.

A ball in the head

The man was shot and injured by New York City police. He was hit at least once in the head according to Commissioner Dermot Shea.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition before passing away, according to RTL.

A security perimeter has been set up around the church.

Police found two handguns and a bag containing a gas tank, ropes and knives.
