A major police operation is currently underway in the Rot district of Stuttgart. A suspect is also being searched for using a helicopter, Jens Lauer, press spokesman for the Stuttgart police, told SWR on Wednesday evening. A dead male person was found on a balcony on Gundelsheimer Strasse in the Rot district of Stuttgart. According to police, the man is 45 years old. Lauer explained that he was presumably shot. The suspect is being searched intensively.
Police ask people to stay at home
On Wednesday evening, the police called on people in Stuttgart-Rot to stay at home via X (formerly Twitter). “Stay home, avoid the area,” the post reads. There are currently closure measures.
The police have no indication that the crime is related to the series of shootings in Stuttgart. It also doesn’t fit the perpetrator’s profile. However, it cannot be completely ruled out at the moment.
At around 6 p.m., the police were reported that a dead man had been found on a balcony of an apartment building on Gundelsheimer Strasse.
