A huge structure has collapsed on one of the busiest bridges in Lithuania

Several cars were on the bridge when the structure fell. Kaunas police received the call around 22.

It is planned that the A. Meshkin bridge could be reconstructed by the first half of 2024. This bridge is one of the busiest in Lithuania.

It is estimated that on some days as many as 78,000 cars travel over this bridge.

On the other hand, on the morning of January 31, a part of the bridge over the Nevėžas river collapsed in Ķedaini, Kaunas county.

The Lithuanian Highway Directorate reported that traffic was closed due to infrastructure damage.

As another one – the Viļaiņi bridge – is currently being repaired in Kēdainai, the bridge that collapsed on Tuesday morning was recently the main bridge leading to the city. It was used by a large traffic of cars every day.
