The Priority Cancer Coalition has called on the government to offer flu and pneumonia vaccines to the entire population this fall.
“If, because of the deconfinement, we are experiencing more traffic in emergency rooms and hospitals, we fear that we will have to close or slow down oncology services even more,” explains Eva Villalba, of the Coalition Priorité Cancer in Quebec.
During confinement, treatment in hospitals was difficult to obtain. The organization would like the government to offer more suitable treatments.
We cite as an example France, which offered the possibility of undergoing chemotherapy infusion treatments at home.
In 2017-2018, 32% of people aged 18 to 74 who live with a chronic disease received a vaccination. In the 75 and over age group, it was 75%.
