A Gabonese obtains a doctorate at Marien Ngouabi University in Brazzaville – AGP

Libreville, February 25, 2024 (AGP) – Doctoral student Simpson Dorothy Mbadinga Mbadinga defended, on February 10, 2024, at the auditorium of the presidency of the Marien Ngouabi University of Brazzaville in Congo, the unique doctoral thesis in the linguistic specialty general, descriptive and African entitled “Syntactic elements of Isangu (B42) of the Republic of Gabon”, indicates the defense report received by the AGP.

“The jury decided, unanimously, to award Mr. Simpson Dorothy Mbadinga Mbadinga the Very honorable mention with congratulations from the jury,” reports the said report.

The five members of the jury praised, through the voice of the President, the merits of the candidate who produced a quality thesis. They appreciated the qualities of a courageous researcher and urged him to engage in critical research avenues on functionalist theory.

One of the members of the jury, Professor Pierre Ondo-Mébiame, also specified that this thesis is the fruit of the hard work of a young man who left his country without a study allowance, to finalize his research far from this one.

“This thesis contributes in a practical and effective way to improving knowledge of the mysteries of the Isangu language and above all to adding vitality to the study of the discipline which is that of the applicant. The work is well written, clean, and easy to read. The editorial quality of the thesis is to be commended,” continues the defense report.

The members of the jury praised the academic cooperation between Congo and Gabon. They were also delighted with the first delivery to Brazzaville of a first Gabonese Doctor in Linguistics. A Gabonese who will have done his first classes at the Omar Bongo University.

The thesis was supervised by Guy-Roger Cyriac Gombé-Apondza, Lecturer at Marien Ngouabi University. The jury, for its part, was composed of Messrs. Paul Nzete, Professor, Marien Ngouabi University (Congo) as President; Pierre Ondo-Mébiame, Professor at Omar Bongo University (Gabon), Examiner; Léon-Pierre Mundeke Otom’si-Ebok, Professor at the University of Kinshasa (DRC) as External Rapporteur; Georges Martial Embanga Aborobongui, Lecturer (CAMES), Marien Ngouabi University and Internal Rapporteur; by Guy-Roger Cyriac Gombé-Apondza, Lecturer (CAMES) at Marien Ngouabi University and Thesis Director.
