A fire broke out in a Berlin clinic during the night. Four people were seriously injured. According to the fire department, a woman is in mortal danger. The police arrested a suspect.
Three patients and a nurse were seriously injured in a fire in a hospital in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Among the patients is a woman who was stuck in an elevator at the “Klinikum am Urban” at the time of the fire and suffered life-threatening injuries, as the fire brigade announced during the night.
According to the information, a total of around 40 people were taken care of, some were classified as slightly injured, and smoke poisoning was suspected in several cases. Two firefighters were also slightly injured.
Suspicious man arrested
According to a fire department spokesman, the fire appears to have started with burning sickbeds in the hallway. How they caught fire is still unclear. According to the police, a suspicious man was arrested, intentional arson cannot be ruled out.
The smoke spread over eight floors of the clinic building, and the rescue center was evacuated. The flames were eventually extinguished.
