Police arrested a suspect Thursday for possible involvement in the threat of the heavily damaged house in Huizen, the municipality reports on Sunday. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, an explosive went off at the house, which had been heavily secured until recently.
The mayor of Huizen decided last week to close the house for serious safety reasons. It is unknown what kind of threat this is.
After the explosion on the Roef, five surrounding houses were evacuated. According to the police, residents are expected to be able to return during the day. No one was injured in the explosion.
Mayor Niek Meijer says he is aware of the impact on the neighbourhood. “This threat mainly focused on the house where the explosion now took place, in the middle of a residential area,” said Meijer.
“Fortunately, there were no casualties. Of course everyone in the area was greatly shocked. First the closure and now this explosion.”
