a criminal journey from Avignon

The ax fell for the chased driver and passenger by the Thionville police last Wednesday. The Thionville court just sentenced them to 16 months’ imprisonment for the driver and 4 months for his friend. Both are detained at the end of the trial, which was held on Monday 7 November.

Unbeknownst to the police, the two men, between the ages of twenty and thirty, originally from Algeria and Romania, are simultaneously subject to the obligation to leave the French territory decided by the prefecture.

Abandoned vehicle

During the hearing, the president Marie-Cécile Dupuy retraced the journey of the two, which began in Vaucluse with the theft of the Citroën C4, in which a whole series of stolen objects were found: bags, driving license, credit card, tools. .. Not to mention the leather goods scattered on the ground near the vehicle, abandoned by the two acolytes not far from the forest of Illange.

In addition to these thefts, the investigation also reveals a first refusal to obey near Le Creusot. The Citroën phone and geolocation then made it possible to follow the path taken by the defendants – who partly recognize the facts. After passing through Luxembourg, they were finally arrested in Moselle.

Ionut Frunza drove without a license. After the tests, no traces of drugs or alcohol were found. The Citroën traveling at high speed, immediately identified as stolen, had been spotted on Boulevard Schuman in Thionville. A pursuit had been engaged up to the A31, where land and air resources had taken over. The offending motorist then drove on the motorway in the opposite direction. A crew of gendarmes returning from a mission, engaged on the A31, had crossed the vehicle, as well as many motorists banned from the scene that could have turned into a disaster.
