Zapping But! Football Club ASSE: the homage of the Greens to Loïc Perrin
Close to the cessation of payment in 2010, ASSE had set up, at the initiative of Roland Romeyer, a “Salary Cap” of € 90,000 gross per month in order to return to more rigorous management. If this bet had missed some blows to the Greens during the Galtier years, it had at least had the merit of totally rectifying the club’s accounts.
Gradually, with the return of ambition in Forez, the Greens had moved away from this model, starting at first by adding variable shares in the contracts, before “breaking” this glass ceiling. to shine again on the European scene.

Eleven years later, ASSE could well return to certain fundamentals. In any case, this is what the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Bernard Caïazzo suggested in an interview in the last issue of Ecofoot magazine: “If the state does not help us, French football will explode!” The Covid-19 crisis causes a shortfall of € 500 million for matchday revenue and € 400 million for the sale of players. The clubs will have to set up salary cap models ”. ASSE being one of the clubs most weakened by the crisis, it is likely that the club will quickly come back to this idea and could not therefore be the only one to (re) try the experience to get out of the crisis.
