a citizens’ rally to demand more security

This Saturday morning, residents of Villejuif gathered to denounce the insecurity and unsanitary conditions in the town of Val-de-Marne.

Several dozen Villejuifois gathered this Saturday at the call of the collective “Tranquility for all in Villejuif”. The demonstrators intended to denounce the insecurity in the municipality of Val-de-Marne. They gathered in front of the Media Library to express their fed up. They denounce, among other things, the decision of the PCF mayor of the city to resort to a “Living environment” brigade to fight against incivility. The councilor wishes to disarm the municipal police and thus to delete the taser and LBDs.

Pierre Garzon also expressed the wish to resort to plus of manpower and to suppress the canine brigade. “Give us back our municipal police” could be read on some banners. The rally also aimed to denounce the unsanitary conditions in this city of nearly 55,000 inhabitants. The inhabitants castigate in particular the many squats that dot the streets of Villejuifoises.

The members of the Tranquility for All collective in Villejuif regret the lack of dialogue with the city’s elected officials. People are fed up, there are too many abnormal things in Villejuif“affirms Michel Perrin, one of the members of the collective. He also denounces lies on the part of the municipality.

We are led to believe that surveillance cameras are the responsibility of the national police, but they are the responsibility of the municipal police and the town hall“he explains. Finally, on the issue of staffing, Michel Perrin deplores the lack of municipal police officers despite the town hall’s promise last September which announced the arrival of 30 new officers. Again this is a lie, no new officer has arrived“he protests.
