Little Emily Hill of West Yorkshire (North England) needed 24 stitches on her scalp after she was dragged over 15 meters down the street by an “almost silent” electric bicycle.
The 22-year-old driver was stopped by the police. Preliminary findings show that he drove off the sidewalk and collided with Emily in a cul-de-sac. Looking at the photos from the hospital, you can come to the conclusion that it is a real miracle that it only ended with such injuries.
5-year-old scalped after collision with a bicycle
The baby was literally scalped. She also had a horribly scarred face. Doctors warned the 5-year-old’s parents that their daughter may need plastic surgery – including a hair follicle transplant from the side of her head.
Emily’s mother, 23-year-old Leigh, said few people are aware of the dangerousness of vehicles that can reach speeds over 20 km / h and are operated by teenagers who have the most moped license.
“We’ve been through weeks of hell,” Leigh told DailyMail. – Many people think that electric bikes are safe, but we have learned the hardest way possible that they are not – adds the woman.
They only heard the crash of impact
On the day of the accident, Emily and her brother Charlie were picked up from their aunt’s house in Keighley. The little girl didn’t hear the bike hit her as she walked towards her mom and dad who were waiting for her.
“I heard a huge bang and a second later saw Emily coming out from under her bicycle a few car lengths down the road,” the 23-year-old recalls. – We saw that the injuries were really serious. Emily had recovered and passed out several times. At one point she stopped crying and moving, and then suddenly she gave a terrible scream … I felt sick – she says.
Doctors sutured Emily’s head wound at the Airedale General Hospital, where she spent the night before being transferred to the Bradford Royal Infirmary. Fortunately, the injuries did not turn out to be as severe as they looked. She was discharged the next day.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said an investigation into the case was ongoing.
