Raises for deputies and senators? The parliamentary commission submitted the bill

On Thursday evening, the deputies from the parliamentary bylaws, parliamentary and immunity committee unanimously adopted the bill, which includes, inter alia, an increase in salaries for parliamentarians.

It is about – as reported by the head of the committee, PiS MP Kazimierz Smoliński – a draft amendment to the Act of July 31, 1981 on the remuneration of persons holding state management positions.

He stressed that the draft was consulted and agreed between parliamentary clubs and concerns “an increase in salaries” of parliamentarians.

– All parliamentary clubs recommend the adoption of this law, related to the change in remuneration, increasing this remuneration, due to the fact that it was consulted, it is agreed between the clubs, I would like to go to vote – said Smoliński.

The bill also provides for the introduction of remuneration for the president’s spouse.

In the committee, all 12 deputies voted in favor of the bill.

Salaries of deputies and senators

The salary of deputies and senators constitutes 80 percent of the undersecretary of state’s remuneration – excluding the seniority allowance – which is calculated on the basis of the Budget Act. The salary is currently PLN 5,890 “on hand”, which is slightly over 8,000 gross.

MPs and senators also receive a parliamentary allowance, i.e. funds to cover expenses related to the performance of their mandate in the country. The diet is PLN 2,505.20 gross.
