A 49-year-old crossing guard committed suicide with his service weapon at the Nancy police station on Thursday morning, we learned from concordant sources. This is the third suicide in the French police this week.
“The @PoliceNationale is once again bereaved by the suicide of one of our police colleges. Our emotional thoughts go out to his family, loved ones and all the police @ PoliceNat54”, tweeted the national police of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The policeman, father of a girl, was discovered in the local armaments of the police station shortly after 10:30 am “by an official who came to equip himself,” a source familiar with the matter told AFP. The investigation was entrusted to the regional judicial police service of Nancy which made the first observations.
The national police announced Monday the suicide of a young security assistant at the Rouen police station. The next day, a 19-year-old security assistant, who was waiting to enter the police academy, put an end to his life with his service weapon at the central police station in Marseille.
